This is an injection-plastic kit of a science-fiction/anime item.

This is an unassembled model kit of the Skyly J2 from the animated movie “The Sky Crawlers.” The aircraft in this film were designed to represent the ultimate in propeller aircraft development, so the strong resemblance of this fictional aircraft to a collection of parts from famous aircraft like the Corsair and Lightning is probably anything but coincidental. This kit features a high level of detail, ingenious geared contra-rotating propellers (plus clear plastic discs to represent spinning propellers for an “in-flight” option), optional extended or retracted landing gear, and a figure of Kusanagi Suito. Also includes an adapter that can be used with Bandai’s Action Base 2 to pose the model “in flight” (stand sold separately). Paint and glue are required for completion.
